Privacy Policy
Last updated 2 October 2026
This policy explains what BeyondLife collects, why, who it goes to, and the control you have. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your memories to train AI models.
What we collect
- Your account: name, email address, mobile number and a password (stored only as a one-way hash).
- What you add about your loved one: their name, relation and years, your interview answers, WhatsApp chat exports, photos and captions, videos, voice notes, written stories, and the documents used to verify the person has passed away.
- Conversations: your messages, voice notes and call transcripts with the AI recreation, and the short notes we save from what you tell it so it can remember.
- Voice recordings: samples you provide to create a voice, and the spoken consent statement you record first.
- Family: names and mobile numbers of relatives you invite, and what they contribute.
- Purchases: the plan or pack you bought and its dates, from the App Store. We never see your card or payment details.
- Usage: message counts and call minutes (to apply your plan's limits), and technical logs such as IP address, for security and fixing problems.
- Ads (free plan only): Google AdMob may collect device identifiers and ad interactions to show and measure non-personalised ads.
How we use it
- To run BeyondLife: build the memory vault, generate replies from your memories, transcribe speech, create and play the voice, and hold calls.
- To keep people safe: messages are screened for signs of crisis, and if one appears the AI steps aside and shows helplines.
- To apply plans and limits, handle purchases, prevent abuse, and meet legal duties.
- To show ads on the free plan.
Who processes your data
We send only what each task needs to these service providers, who process it for us:
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Gemini) | Writes replies and finds relevant memories | Your messages and the memories needed to answer |
| Deepgram | Turns speech into text | Voice notes and call audio |
| Cartesia | Creates and speaks the recreated voice | Voice samples; text to be spoken |
| LiveKit | Carries live call audio | Call audio, in real time |
| Apple | Handles purchases and subscriptions | Purchase details, under Apple's own privacy policy |
| Google AdMob | Shows ads on the free plan | Device identifiers and ad interactions |
| Our hosting provider | Stores your account and files, encrypted in transit | Everything above, stored for you |
Some of these providers process data outside India. We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.
Voice recreation and consent
A voice is created only after the account holder records a spoken consent statement. It is used only for that person's voice notes and calls, and is always labelled as an AI voice. Deleting the person deletes the voice at our provider.
Sharing with family
Relatives you invite can see the person you shared with them and add memories, which you approve before they count. Notes saved from someone's own chats stay private to that person.
Keeping and deleting your data
- We keep your data while your account exists.
- Delete a person: Settings, then Delete persona. This permanently removes their memories, photos, voice, files and every conversation.
- Delete your account: Settings, then Delete my account. This does the same for everyone you created and removes your account.
- Export: Settings, then Export all my data, for a copy of what we hold.
- Copies in backups, if any, are removed on the normal backup cycle.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections, passwords are hashed, voice identifiers are encrypted, and access to your content is limited to you and the relatives you invite. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, withdraw consent, or raise a complaint, under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and, where they apply to you, similar laws elsewhere. Most of this you can do yourself in Settings. For anything else, write to us using the contact in Support; that address is also our grievance contact.
People who have passed away, and family objections
BeyondLife is for close family of someone who has died, and not for public figures. If you believe a person was added without your family's agreement, write to us. We lock the person while we review it.
Age
BeyondLife is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
